Your path to more strength and mobility. Reformer Pilates is an intensive, holistic workout that is performed on the “Reformer” Pilates device. Joseph Pilates himself has already worked with reformers to intensify Pilates training or adapt it to certain needs.
It combines precise movements with controlled resistance to specifically strengthen muscles, improve posture and promote flexibility. Compared to Mat Pilates, the reformer offers greater variability in exercises through the use of springs and pulls and helps you target deeper muscle layers.

What is Reformer?
Our Philosophy
Pilates Reformer is an intensive, holistic body workout which is carried out on special equipment — the reformers. It specifically strengthens your muscles, improves your posture and increases your flexibility. At the same time, it promotes precise body awareness and stabilizes your core, which can have a positive effect on your movements in everyday life, during sports activities and in rehabilitation after injuries.
The reformer was developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s and, thanks to its spring-based mechanism, offers a variety of exercises that target the deep muscle groups that are essential for a healthy posture and a stable core. Compared to mat Pilates, the reformer enables a particularly varied and effective form of training thanks to the resistance and support of the device.
Benefits of Pilates
Reformer Pilates offers a unique workout that strengthens and shapes your body in a variety of ways. In contrast to conventional Pilates, the reformer uses a special device that works with springs and sledges to vary the resistance and enable a variety of exercises. As a result, every movement is carried out in a targeted and controlled manner, allowing you to train your muscles in a gentle but effective way.
Targeted muscle training: With the reformer, you can target both large muscle groups and small, deep-lying muscles. The training promotes strength, endurance and coordination and is particularly effective for strengthening the core muscles.
Individually adjustable resistance: Thanks to its flexible resistance regulation, the reformer enables training that is adapted to your fitness level, regardless of whether you are a beginner or an advanced athlete.
Gentle on the joints: The smooth, gliding movements on the reformer are particularly gentle on the joints and are ideal for rehabilitation or as a supplement to other sports.
Versatility: Whether strengthening, flexibility or rehabilitation, the reformer offers a comprehensive workout that can be tailored to your needs and goals.
Pilates vs Reformer Pilates
Pilates and Reformer Pilates both aim to strengthen muscles and stabilize the core of the body.
However, there are key differences. Mat Pilates uses your own body weight, while Reformer Pilates uses a special device with springs, which enables more intensive and targeted training.
Both methods complement each other perfectly: mat Pilates promotes flexibility and body control, while Reformer Pilates addresses deeper muscle groups and offers more intensive strength training.
At YTTP, you will find courses for both variants. Our trainers and check-in angels will be happy to help you find the right course.
